What a tremendous day ! The
weather wasnt as good as previous years but
no games were lost. The Clubs bar takings set a new record and Bloxwich CC
raised £1,000. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took part and made this a
great day.
The teams were increased to ten this year, there were requests for even more
to take part, and it was a struggle to fit all the games in. A massive THANK YOU
to Kelton Scott, Simon Lunn and Chris Scott for all the organising.
The pre tournament favourites THE CHAMPS failed to live up to their name but
all looked the part wearing traditional Indian turbans.

The prize for best dressed
team went to TOP CLOWN who yet again travelled far and wide to take part and
their outfits were tremendous.

The newly formed Ladies
Section entered a cast
of thousands entitled THE MAIDENS and acquitted themselves excellently.

The Clubs Colts
section is now so large that they entered two teams,
LITTLE KIDS

and BLOXWICH
MASSIVE both of which had a thoroughly enjoyable
day with the MASSIVE almost reaching the final.

The FTL TOONS
wore their
pyjamas but failed to rise and shine.

The heaviest team of the day was A TEAM CALLED ALICE,

and the oldest was
SNOOKER TEAM, but both surpassed themselves with very creditable performances.
ALICE were joined by Lee Connor from DUNDRUM C.C. Northern Ireland.

TAFFYS MOB included players from LAMPETER C.C. Wales. TAFFYS did
well,
thanks to EGGS massive sixes, to reach the final,

where they met THE
CHUMPS,
who took it all very seriously ! Unfortunately loss of light meant we had to have
a bowl off which was won by the 2001 winners, THE CHUMPS, thanks to
Stu Clarke the only one to hit the stumps (Honest !!).

There are so many people to thank for their support on the day
.
THANK YOU to Joan Scott and her Culinary Wizards ( Kerry, Steve, Auntie Pauline,
Jackie, Karen, Roma and my chilli ) who supplied breakfast, lunch and evening meal.
Thanks again Joan for the tremendous Tombola stall and the framed, signed
Bloxwich CC polo shirt (Available in all colours from yours truly) which was raffled
off and won by Carol Parry, who then donated it to stay on the wall in the
Clubhouse. Thanks to Mac Pearce for the signed Walsall F.C. football which was
auctioned and went to the highest bidder, Steve Wood. Thanks Dave Salmon
for the music throughout the day and evening, and thanks Paul Bradley for the
nights entertainment which really picked us all up when we were flagging.

Thank you all for buying the programmes (designed by yours truly and available
for all your sporting events etc..) which doubled up as a raffle ticket, the prizes
for which were donated by THE STAG PUB (Field Road). JKH EMBROIDERY
(at the Hollybush who does all our shirts). OAK SPORTS (Hall Green, Birmingham
who supplies Bloxwich Ladies CC). AUTOGRAPH FOOD SERVICE ( See Mark Allcock
for competitive quotes on all your and your company catering needs).
GARETH DAVIES (Hayburn Rock Independent Financial Advisers). CAR SPARES
AND ACCESSORIES (Trouse Lane, Wednesbury). All sponsors are thanked for
their generosity.
And last, but by no means least, a huge THANK YOU to John and Carol PARRY
behind the bar for their support on helping Bloxwich CC smash all records for
bar takings on the day. (Its a good job it wasnt hot and sunny because we
may have had a proper thirst on !!!)
Again, THANK YOU for all those joining in either as players or spectators,
and we hope to see you all next year.
