The Fighting Cock - the early
motif of Bloxwich Cricket Club, indicating the Club's fighting spirit and identifying it with the village of Bloxwich, which was renown in the Nineteenth Century for its many cock fighting pits. |
The Club moved to its present
ground at Stafford Road
in 1935 to become part of the then newly formed
Bloxwich Stafford Road Sports Club. This sports
complex was set up through the sterling efforts of
Bloxwich industrialist, the late William Wiggin. It was
through his benevolence that five and a half acres of
playing facilities were provided together with a
Clubhouse.

Road Sports Club motif was adopted by Bloxwich Cricket Club on the amalgamation of Bloxwich Cricket, Hockey, Bowls, Tennis and Badminton Clubs in 1935. |
the agreement that a lease be granted at a nominal
rental to a Committee of Trustees of the Club, on
the understanding that the sole use of the land be
for the sports of Cricket, Hockey, Tennis and Bowls.
A rental of £50 per annum was agreed with the lease
to be renewed every 50 years, the last renewal taking
place in 1987.

independently by its own Committee and is responsible
for the maintenance and preparation of its own ground.

ground since its move in 1935 and welcomes players
of all ages and abilities and aims to provide cricketing
opportunities for all.
