Bloxwich CC Colts Organisers Report 2006
Mark Allcock Colts Organiser 2006
The season for me started back
in November 2005 when we contacted Primary
Schools and had almost twenty lads and lasses under 11 years of age turn up
for nets. In February nets for under 13, 15 and 17s and the season looked more
and more promising as each week went by. In March I started organising the
games in the various West Midland Youth Leagues and in the first week of
April we commenced Sunday morning out-door training and coaching with as
many as sixty youngsters regularly attending.
In May we had five different colts teams playing one game each, every week in
the Under 17s, 15s, 13s, 11s and for the very first time in the
clubs history
Under 10, league. Under 10 and 11 teams are of 8 players, each pair bat for 4
overs making 16 overs per team. Each team starts with 200 runs each wide
bowled counts 2 runs to the batting side and 5 runs are deducted for each wicket
that falls. The wicket keeper cannot be changed unless he/she is injured and
each of the other seven players have to bowl at least two overs. Every youngster
gets to bat and bowl
On Friday 6th September a colts presentation night attended by colts, parents,
colts relatives and senior Bloxwich players was held in the very crowded
clubhouse when over 80 awards were presented. Each colt who had represented
Bloxwich C C in a league match was presented with a medal and a club cap and
there were also individual awards for performances in each team. Joan put on a
buffet and a very good time was had by all.

UNDER 11s
All players were new this year and had never played a competitive game and
they were up against mostly stronger sides with under 10 and previous under
11 experience. They were joined by Charllotte Mincher and Millie Rochelle
Bates who had had some experience the previous year and Millie did a mature
job of captaining the side.
During the second half of the season they got stronger and there were a
number of very close games. Harry Bonniface excelled as wicket keeper.

UNDER 13s
Started the season with just seven players that had under 11 league experience..
They were joined by a number of new cricket under 13 members and were
strong enough to win six games of the 10 played with two abandoned. Tom
Burden captained the side in all of the matches and we may have found a future
senior captain of the club. Tom Wiggin hit his maiden 50 for the U13s

UNDER 15s
This has been a strange season for the under 15s as they had the largest
number of team members - 20 to 25 and in one week 22 players played in
fulfilling two matches but their was an excellent team spirit throughout the
season. Richard Mincher had an excellent season behind the stumps and Tom
Wiggin in one match took 4wickets in 5 balls including a hat-trick.

UNDER 17s
The under 17s were a disappointment this year in that when asked to play
were available infrequently. The team played 5 won 2 and lost 3 Tom Fellows
played in 4 matches, Randeep 3, Nathan Langley 3, Ashley Worgan 2, James
Lewis 2, and Martin Dale 1. This is not only a bad example to set to the
younger colts but it also put them under pressure to perform when they should
be simply getting some experience ready for their next year.

player was needed in any team including the First team Tom was there eager to
volunteer He took his first senior wicket bowling for the 3rd Eleven and played in
one Sunday 1st Eleven game. - at twelve years of age thats going some !!
Our two regular County Girls helped the Staffordshire Under 17, win all
the
games they played against other counties. In the first game Emma hit her
maiden 50 and Cheryl got her maiden county 5 wicket haul. In another Cheryl
hit her maiden 50 and also bowled a Hat-trick. Only rain/abandoned match
prevented Staffs winning the Midland Region. Cheryl finished the top wicket
taker in the England and Wales County u17 teams and was consequently called
up among the top 48 county players to compete in the four day - Super Fours
competition. Cheryl this season has been a regular in the Staffordshire Ladies
Team and was joined by Emma in the three day County Championships. The
girls have represented the club well and put Bloxwich C C on the map. - well
done Cheryl and Emma.
Thanks to everyone who has helped with umpiring and scoring especially Chris
Scott Andy Lewis Debby Mincher and Rob Ray. To Joan and Mike for
keeping colts coaches and parents fed and watered on Sunday mornings and to
John and Carole for opening the bar early on a number of colts match nights.
Thanks to all the parents who have helped with transport to and from away
games and all who have supported the colts coaches and team managers at all
the matches - it really is appreciated. (Its not nice being out-numbered by
visitors supporters when your playing at home) Thanks to the seniors who have
supported us - do lots of the senior players not know we have a colts section ?
Thanks to all helpers on Sunday morning training sessions especially Steve
Webster Andy McArree David Holland Bright Robert Clarke and Haley.
Thanks to Gary for the reports in the newspapers making us all look smart and
last but not least Swinna and Terry - these two are the backbone of the colts
being team managers and coaches.
Heres to next season our 10th year anniversary. MARK ALLCOCK
